New Facebook Page

New Facebook Page

Exciting news – I have set up a new Facebook page for “The Girl in the Picture“. I have received some lovely letters from women who have connected with the story. Then two days ago, while in an office I showed my book to a lady, who asked to have a look at in while I was in my appointment. When I returned only ten minutes later, she had tears in her eyes, and was affected by something that she had read.  That was the intention of the book – to show that my story is not that spectacular, and it’s very commonality is what we can all relate to. That experience in the office prompted me to set up the facebook page.  I thought it would be a lovely idea for readers who have had similar experiences, to have somewhere that they  can go to share their thoughts, and connect with others. This does not mean that comments are not welcome on this webpage – the more ways we can connect, the better! Judes...

My Book Cover!

My Book Cover!

Well, it only took about four hours of juggling fonts and colours, but here it is – my  firstest ever book cover!  Now it is actually starting to feel real; we are getting close.  I am so excited to reach this stage, and I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face. Just some minor adjustments to the manuscript to go and then we are off to the printers. ...
Cancer – who needs it?

Cancer – who needs it?

One year has passed since I was declared ‘cancer-free; only four more to go until I get the tick of approval from the ‘full remission’ committee! We are in the final stages of editing and book cover design – it is getting really exciting. I am also in the throes of organizing several book launches around Brisbane for November/December, and have been lucky enough to receive the support of several Coffee Club outlets.  It is heart-warming to see businesses supporting local authors! Keep checking the website for dates; they will be posted as final dates are set....
Day of Reckoning

Day of Reckoning

The day of reckoning is nearly here – my book is at the publishers and we are working our way through the editing process. The photo’s have been decided on and it is looking good!! My journey with cancer – or, more aptly, my story of how NOT to cure yourself of cancer – is finally finished. While Elizabeth Gilbert was gracefully wending her way round the globe, I too, was stumbling around through India and the Philippines. I fumbled my way through various remedies and cancer retreats. Only problem was, I couldn’t quite give up the two fatal reds – wine and meat. What a disaster. I wrote about my various attempts at curing myself, because I found it not only frustrating, but infuriating, that so many others succeeded in healing themselves naturally. Who woulda’ thought it wasn’t as easy as sitting in the lotus position reciting ohhmm over and over again. The book is about finding your OWN path – nobody will find all the answers to their problems in just one book. Trust me, it ain’t gonna happen. What worked for me was having a sense of humour, and a pretty sick sense of humour at that. I laughed at my cancer; that was my way of lessening it’s power over me. As in life, the story is full of highs and lows (REALLY lows), but I am still here....
